The state of Kubernetes security 2024 

As 2024 has come to an end, we take a look back at last year's Kubernetes environment. In a recent study by Redhat, insights from 600 professionals across DevOps, engineering, and security fields has been compiled into study of the state of Kubernetes security in 2024. 

Although Kubernetes adoption is growing, so are the challenges the environment presents. 

⏳ Deployment Delays:

The study deemed 67% of organizations have delayed or slowed down application rollouts due to security concerns. This shows how vulnerabilities and misconfigurations can heavily  impact timelines.

💰 Revenue at Risk:
46% of businesses reported losing customers or revenue due to Kubernetes or container security incidents. These events highlight the need for effective security measures.

🚨 Emerging Threats:
Vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and exposed sensitive data remain ongoing concerns. Addressing these requires a clear security strategy for all parts of the Kubernetes environment.

🛡 DevSecOps Advancements:
42% of organizations are adopting DevSecOps practices, incorporating security into CI/CD pipelines and assessing risks during the application lifecycle.

The study highlights an important message, Kubernetes security requires collaboration, innovation, and the right tools to protect every phase of the application lifecycle. Organisations must keep up with the security risks present in today's cloud environment.
