We’re sitting down with Hannes Ullman, CEO and co-founder of bifrost security. With his background in tech and startups, Hannes shares insights into bifrost’s journey and service.
Q: What inspired you to start bifrost security?
A: Throughout my career in tech, I’ve seen technology applied as a tool rather than a central focus in companies. At bifrost, I wanted to be a part of cutting-edge technology, where improvements in our tech directly enhance our product. I’m especially drawn to the growing field of cybersecurity for its impact, creating safer infrastructure and more resilient software. This aligns with my past experiences in startups, where the goal has always been to drive positive change. Previously through improved communication and sustainability, and now, robust security solutions.
Q: How has the company evolved since its inception?
A: Reflecting on our progress from 2022 to now, the journey feels both swift and extensive at the same time. bifrost began its journey with an initial idea and research results from Lund University. Today, we have a dedicated team helping to build and refine this vision, and we have received positive feedback from customers who found our solution both relevant and essential. We've grown from a concept into a functioning company with a viable product—a journey marked by development and learning.
Q: What are the biggest challenges and opportunities in the industry right now?
A: The industry faces several key challenges and opportunities right now. Rapid technological evolution means there’s a constant flow of new software, creating a landscape where attack vectors and defense operators are in a continuous game of cat and mouse. The volume of information adds to the complexity, making it difficult to separate genuine threats from noise. Managing this stress for developers and filtering relevant data is crucial for effective security solutions.
On the opportunity side, there’s a growing trend toward tools that offer insights and enable proactive decision-making. This shift includes leveraging AI to strengthen security measures and tackle emerging threats. While AI's rapid advancement provides a chance to improve defenses, it also poses a challenge by equipping attackers with more sophisticated tools.
Q: What is your favorite, perhaps unknown, feature of the bifrost service?
A: One of my favorite features of bifrost is its seamless workflow integration. From day one, it’s designed to be easy to set up and integrate into existing systems. Furthermore, bifrost offers a setting to take complete visibility of the application’s security, enhancing the overall runtime protection while simplifying the user experience.
