bifrost security raises SEK 6.7 million to accelerate sovereign runtime security across the Nordics

We’re excited to share that bifrost security has raised SEK 6.7 million (approximately €600,000) to accelerate the commercialisation of our runtime security platform across the Nordic market. The round is anchored by Almi Invest, which invests SEK 3 million, with participation from SEB Utvecklingsstiftelse, Västanskog Invest AB, and our existing owners.

Alongside the round, we’re announcing something the market has been asking for: a fully sovereign offering for the Swedish and European market, where all customer data is processed entirely outside American jurisdiction.

Why now

Software is being written faster than ever. As AI-generated code moves from experiment to default, the volume of code shipped to production is exploding, and with it, the attack surface. The window between a vulnerability becoming known and being actively exploited keeps collapsing, while regulation such as NIS2, DORA, and SOC2 raises the bar for security and compliance, particularly for SaaS and technology companies in regulated industries.

The new reality brings new threats, and the need for proactive, automated security work only grows. Manual, point-in-time security can’t keep pace with a development cycle measured in minutes. Security has to start in runtime, and it has to be automated.

What we do

bifrost security develops a platform for runtime security and risk prioritisation in containerised software. Our platform learns how each component normally behaves, then detects and blocks anomalous behaviour in real time. By analysing how applications are actually used, we help organisations cut through CVE noise to the risks that are genuinely reachable at runtime, and stop attacks as they happen.

A sovereign alternative, built in the Nordics

For a growing number of Swedish and Nordic organisations, especially in the public sector and regulated industries, where data is processed, and under whose laws, is no longer a footnote. It’s a procurement requirement and a matter of trust.

That’s why we’re launching a fully sovereign offering, with all data processed outside American jurisdiction. It means organisations can adopt modern runtime security without exposing their data to foreign legal regimes. It’s a credible, sovereign alternative built here in the Nordics.

What’s next

With the new funding, bifrost will increase our pace in onboarding new organisations onto the platform while continuing to build the sovereign, trustworthy alternative our customers are asking for.

“We see a growing need for automation around software security in a world where development speed is exploding with AI as the engine. This new reality brings new threats, and the need for more proactive and automated security only grows. We’re delighted to welcome new owners who share our view. With this capital, we’re building a sovereign, trustworthy alternative and accelerating our commercialisation in the Nordics.”

— Hannes Ullman, CEO and founder, bifrost security

“bifrost addresses a growing security need as more companies adopt AI-generated code and build increasingly complex cloud environments. The combination of differentiated technology, strong momentum, and an experienced team makes this a very interesting investment for us.”

— Erik Larsson, Investment Manager, Almi Invest

The team behind bifrost security brings broad experience in building and scaling technology companies. CEO and founder Hannes Ullman has a background as a serial SaaS entrepreneur and management consultant, while CTO and co-founder Konrad Eriksson brings deep technical expertise in cybersecurity, including from IBM Research, and experience building B2B SaaS companies.
